Q1. Why you think there has been an increasing number of family business courses over the last 2 decades?
A: Due to an increase in entrepreneurial mindset among the younger population the knowledge for business undertakings has become an essential part of our education system. Apart from that due to failure of Gen z and millennials to carry forward their family lineage it has become important to introduce courses that provide theoretical as well as practical knowledge in family business development.
Q2. Why have you opted for a course in family business management? Are you part of a family business? Tell us a little about it.
A: I have been brought up in family business oriented family with business embedded into my mind from a very young age. I aspire to gain the technicalities and theoretical concepts that can be applied in my own business so that I can achieve better results as compared to the orthodox and traditional method followed by the previous generation in my family. We deal in manufacturing of LED lights and supply them PAN India. We are a pioneer in lighting solutions and innovations. We provide a variety of products which are favoured by ace architects and designers.From gigantic malls to homes, landscapes or façades we have products that cater to every space.
Q3. What business benefits might accrue to the business from you enrolling in this family business module?
A: I feel that by learning about family business strategies professionally by such experienced professors will provide me with immense confidence when I join my family business. It will also help me match the expectations set by the management in my company. It will also diversify my thoughts and provide a more international and creative outlook on managing and expanding business as I will be surrounded by people from all over the world who have different cultures and traditions.
Q4. How can you contribute to learning about family businesses?
A: I will bring the values and culture that is followed in the Indian business society. Apart from this I will contribute my knowledge of the working of Indian business systems with my fellow peers which would help them get an idea about how family businesses operate in different parts of the world. Also India being such a diversified country, there are different strategies and procedures followed by different people across the country. This will enhance the quality of conversation in the lectures as more views and opinions will be brought forward which will increase our level of thinking and broaden our mindset.
