The 3-circle model is beneficial in presenting the situation of my family business though not with complete clarity. A clear understanding of the level of involvement, authority, and differences in the roles helps in maintaining a clear order and makes it easier to define roles to an observer. Along with that it helps in terms of managing operations and maintaining the division of power. The insights I have gained from the 3-circle model are regarding managing the finances, capital allocation, decision making, and employee management must be kept within the close circle of the family.
The roles must not be based entirely on the emotional bond between the family members but on the potential and capability, the person holds. In that case, the power or capital flow can be transferred to a distant relative is what I believe. For now, I am in the center position I belong to the family owners who work in the business. I do not exercise any power in the decision making but I hold the responsibility and authority in operation and strategic decision making along with employee management ability. For years to come, I might not hold the main power but I look forward to contributing my best towards areas of my reach.
